Travel video about destination Delhi in India. Delhi is the political and administrative capital of India and the largest democracy in the world, a melting pot of both culture and religion plus a constantly expanding metropolis that has more than ten million inhabitants. Built on the site of twelve former cities it is the gateway to India and has been the country’s centre of power for almost a thousand years.Jama Masjid, the Friday Mosque, is one of old Delhi’s main landmarks, bequeathed to the city by the Mogul king, Shah Jahan. Its huge inner courtyard accommodates twenty thousand. Raj Ghat is a memorial to the country’s former political leaders and once contained the funeral pyres of Mahatma Ghandi, Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Ghandi. Rajpath is the name of an impressive three hundred metre wide road flanked by green swathes and luxuriant fountains, remnants of British Imperial rule. The National Rail Museum contains an interesting collection of nostalgic locomotives, carriages and memorabilia and for those who do not wish to risk a journey on India’s present day over-packed trains, the museum provides the perfect opportunity to imagine how it must have been on the Indian railroads of old. The Safdar-Jang Mausoleum was built in the final years of Mogul rule and is an architectural monument of this golden era. It contains each design element of this epoch, with a terrace-like substructure, painted stucco and a dome. No other city in this huge and diverse country demonstrates the dramatic history of India with all the intensity of colour as Delhi.

A number of brisk crossings occur in this stretch, including one with the Ahmedabad Rajdhani and also with a couple of WDP3A hauled passengers. Post Rewari, we meet the Ashram Mail, hauled by an Abu Road Alco for a change and just before the single-line section starts, the Jaipur Delhi Double Decker rolls past with a Tughlakabad EMD. The hills of the Aravalli range are visible at this point, informing us of our entry into Rajasthan and soon, we reach the city of Alwar, adjacent to the Sariska Tiger sanctuary. A sweeping curve brings us to Bandikui and the Shatabdi then did not have a stop at this station and cruised through, greeted by the Jaipur Delhi AC special, running with LHB coaches. The hills recede in the background as we blaze through the rugged plains of Rajasthan, reaching Jaipur right on time at 10:30 in the morning. Post Jaipur, the terrain gets flatter and scrubbier, as we storm towards Phulera. After a sedate skip of Phulera, we regain the company of the hills as we head towards Kishangarh. As we depart Kishangarh, an Abu Road Alco chugs in with the Udaipur Jaipur Intercity. The train now advances right amidst the hills as it curves into Ajmer.

Delhi officially the #National Capital #Territory of Delhi, is the capital territory of the #Republic of India. Delhi is historically and culturally connected to both the Upper Doab of the #Yamuna-Ganges river system and the #Punjab region. It is bordered by #Haryana on three sides and by #Uttar Pradesh to the east. It is the #most populous city in India—about 1,484 square kilometres (573 sq mi). It has a population of about 25 million, making it the second most #populous city after Mumbai and most populous urban agglomeration in India and 3nd largest urban area in the world.Such is the nature of urban expansion in Delhi that its growth has expanded beyond the NCT to incorporate towns in neighbouring states and at its largest extent can count a population of about 25 million residents as of 2014. After Mumbai, Delhi has the #second-highest number of billionaires and millionaires among all cities in India. Delhi has been continuously inhabited since the 6th century BCE Through most of its history, Delhi has served as a capital of #various kingdoms and empires. It has been captured, ransacked and rebuilt several times, particularly during the medieval period, and modern Delhi is a cluster of a number of cities spread across the #metropolitan region. #Delhi and its urban region have been given the special status of #National Capital Region (#NCR) under the Constitution of India's 69th Amendment #Act of 1991. The NCR includes the neighbouring cities of #Faridabad, #Gurgaon, #Noida, #Ghaziabad, #Neharpar(Greater Faridabad), #Greater #Noida, #Bahadurgarh, #Sonepat, #Panipat, #Karnal, #Rohtak, #Bhiwani, #Rewari, #Baghpat, #Meerut,Muzaffarnagar, #Alwar, #Bharatpur and other nearby towns. A union territory, the political administration of the NCT of Delhi today more closely resembles that of a #state of India, with its own legislature, #high court and an executive council of ministers headed by a Chief Minister. New Delhi is jointly administered by the federal government of India and the #local government of Delhi, and is the capital of the NCT of Delhi. #Bahai Temple: Situated atop the #Kalkaji Hill. Its distinctive lotus shaped design in Marble. It was built in 1987 by the followers of Bahai faith. The temple signifies the purity and equality of all religions. #Gandhi Smiriti: The Memorial consists of: (a) Visual Aspects to perpetuate the memory of #Mahatma Gandhi and the noble ideals he represented, (b) Educative Aspects to focus concentrated attention on certain values of life that made Gandhi a Mahatma, and (c) Service Aspects to introduce activities in order to subserve certain felt needs. #Rajghat: The simple square platform of black marble marks the place where the father of the Nation, Mahatama Gandhi was cremated. #New Delhi is a multidimensional metropolis sprinkled with glittering gems. The city's sometimes gritty surface gives way to #magnificent museums, #captivating monuments, #a lively arts scene and some of India's #most delectable places to eat. A true melting pot, visitors hear a jumble of languages and dialects spoken throughout the city, including #Punjabi, #Hindi, #Urdu and #English. The capital also mixes the two very different experiences of the “old” and “new” worlds. #Old Delhi reigned as the capital of old Islamic India, while New Delhi was born as the British imperial capital in 1931.#One of the most grandiose sites in New Delhi is the #Rashtrapati Bhavan, home of #India's president. Built by English architects, the palace combines classical columns with unmistakably Indian touches like majestic domes and colorful filigree work. For the most memorable first impression, approach the palace from the east at the India Gate and stroll through the gardens. Crisscrossed by #waterways and refreshing fountains, the gardens are a welcome escape from the hustle and bustle of the city and include whimsical #butterfly enclosures, shady fruit orchards and one of the subcontinent's best collections of Bonsai. For an interesting overview of Indian history, visit the #National Museum, where the labyrinthine layout leads visitors through unparalleled collections featuring true masterpieces from all over the country. The splendid exhibitions include rare silk paintings, detailed woodcarvings, fearsome #Mughal weaponry, sacred Buddhist objects and more. Exploring the museum takes at least half a day, but it is worth it to gain a glimpse into India's fascinating history. Visitors to the city can walk in the footsteps of one of India's most prominent historical figures, #Mahatma Gandhi, and learn about his message of truth and non-violence. The Gandhi Smriti, where the activist spent the last days of his life before his assassination in 1948, is now a multimedia museum featuring well-preserved rooms, photographs, paintings and personal effects. #New Delhi really comes alive in its bazaars. The shopping arcades exude energy, drawing in both locals and tourists.

Nearby is Chandni Chowk, a vibrant bazaar filled with food carts, sweets shops and spice stalls. delhi tourist spots tourist places in delhi for couples tourist places in gurgaon delhi tourism packages dwarka, delhi india national zoological park delhi national rail museum new delhi places to visit in delhi with friends national science centre delhi new delhi tourist spots tourist places in delhi for couples tourist places in gurgaon delhi tourism packages dwarka, delhi india national rail museum new delhi national zoological park delhi places to visit in delhi with friends national museum new delhi delhi tourist places tourist places in delhi for couples tourist places in gurgaon dwarka, delhi india national zoological park delhi places to visit in delhi with friends national rail museum new delhi delhi tourism packages national science centre delhi delhi tourism delhi tourism packages delhi tourism hoho bus delhi city delhi tourism map new delhi india points of interest dwarka, delhi india delhi tourism hotels karol bagh india new delhi new delhi india points of interest new delhi map new delhi state new delhi movie new delhi climate new delhi hotels new delhi population

Truly an amazing moment in our lives to experience living like a local in India.Thank you so much our Sarthak Mohindra to show us the faces of India, all the good food, and the home cooked food. We love India, a lot! Enjoy the video and travel like you just learn to walk, learn like how the first word you know excites you!

Last day in India, I ENJOYED NEW DELHI. Great city, great people. Time to hunt down a working ATM, tampons and breakfast. We spent all our cash and literally have no money. https:edgeofdavid.com
